Slidell Louisiana Homes Plenty for the Culture Vulture Sitting on your porch, you watch the day go by and suddenly you are inspired. You take your canvas and let your hands guide your brush over colors bringing images to life. Your creativity will never be stunted, with all the beauty around you and the encouragement for the arts, your brilliance will be nourished. And even if you are not artistically inclined, you can still enjoy the works of local artists on display.
Anywhere you go in Old Towne Slidell, you are bound to run into something fueled by creativity or just plain pleasing to the eye. The Soda Shop is definitely going to bring about memories from yesteryear while a ride on a vintage fire truck will delight the kids. Even just strolling around the streets and looking at the architecture is something to behold. The artistic experience continues at the Slidell Art League where you can see what the masters are up to and their works in progress as muses inspire them in this working studio.
Everyone knows the cliché that artists are eccentric. At the Slidell Museum this concept is taken to an extremely extraordinary level. Located in the old town jail which was built in 1907, the Slidell Museum houses exhibits on the history of the city, photographs, memorabilia and works of art where convicts once paced around. Recently collaborating with the Slidell Art League, the museum is now home to the works of famed local artists.
Besides the museum, there's also the Slidell Cultural Center at Erlanger Street. This art gallery has six to seven exhibitions every year showcasing anything from fine arts to history and works from local and international artists alike. Students as well as visitors fill the gallery to appreciate culture at its finest.
The art scene isn't the only thing that gives this city its buzz. As a resident of Slidell, LA real estate, you become part of all the festivities of this community. One of the biggest celebrations is the Slidell Heritage Festival which takes place every fourth of July. It is an event the whole family will love. Music, great food, fun and games, all topped off with a party of fireworks in the sky completes the celebration. Of course living close to the Big Easy won't be complete without a Mardi Gras that's family-friendly. Beads and moon pie thrown from ornamental floats are avidly caught by onlookers. Come Christmas time, the whole city is a flurry of lights for ten evenings as Griffith Park turns into a winter wonderland with Christmas Under the Stars.
