New Orleans Real EstateSightseeing in The City that Care ForgotWhen you think about New Orleans and real estate, you are bound to end up with a home where you'll never get bored. The City that Care Forgot sure has a lot of things to see and do to keep you entertained for days on end. In fact one can write a book about all the restaurants, museums, clubs and bars, and attractions of the city and all those words would still pale in comparison to what one actually sees upon arrival here.
There are many neighborhoods in the area, the oldest of which is the Vieux Carré or the French Quarter. History and Architecture buffs will have their fair share of sights to check out. The La Petit Theatre, Voodoo Museum, the Cabildo which housed the Louisiana Supreme Court, and the Hermann-Grima House are just some of the numerous places one can go to appreciate history and architectural style in the French Quarter. Antique shops, art galleries, restaurants serving up amazing cuisine, and fantastic shopping line the streets. A visit to the area won't be complete without exploring Bourbon Street and its fantastic nightlife.
There are two things that the neighborhoods of Uptown, the Garden District, and Carollton have in common. The first is the nature and gardens that one finds in the areas and the second is the feel of a small quaint village. Before taking a stroll in the lanes where story book homes stand, you can hop on a riverboat and cruise along the winding Mississippi River. Small specialty stores, coffee shops, and eclectic shopping await you in these three beautiful places.
Another significant place in the city is the Faubourg Tremé which is the oldest African American neighborhood in the United States. Many cultural, economic, and political events took place here. Visitors to Tremé can share in the experiences of African Americans by visiting the Backstreet Cultural Museum or the African American Museum. You can also find the wide open space of Armstrong Park here, which is home to Congo Square a venue that has seen the evolution of the city's rich jazz scene.
Where a 19th century industrial area called the Warehouse District once stood now stands what is commonly known as the New Orleans Art District. The Contemporary Arts Center and more than two dozen galleries add color to the historic community where art lovers converge. The National WWII Museum and the Louisiana Children's Museum will keep the museum goers busy.
